O Jogo claim that Gaitan remains convinced he'll become a Manchester United player this summer and is simply waiting for it to happen.
The player has already had a farewell match, say O Jogo, but that didn't go too well against New York red Bulls and the newspaper reckon there were clues in Gaitan's reactions that he was off.
It's reiterated once more that Manchester United and Benfica have agreed a fee of €30m for the Argentine, and that works out to be £21m at today's rates.
Super-agent Jorge Mendes is said to be trying to rush through the deal but that surely can't sit well with him also being the agent of Angel Di Maria and David De Gea, who he's trying to get out of Old Trafford.
It's been reported repeatedly in Portugal that Gaitan is having to wait for Di Maria to leave Manchester United before his own move there is confirmed.
If this transfer comes off then it will bring to an end one of the longest running sagas in football.
